Musical Worship

Why “Musical”?

Worship is not a moment or a song. Worship is supposed to be a lifestyle lived out for the glory of God. That means everything we do from how we talk, act, drive, get our groceries, interact at our jobs, how we pray, how we serve, etc. should all be done as worship to God. However, somewhere in Church history we made music the go to form of worship. This could be because of the Psalms or even because of King David and how expressed his love and devotion to God; or it could be because music has a connection physically to our emotions. Either way, our culture has defined worship as music. Our desire here at Church Two42 is not to just play music but give moments during our service for people to reflect on what God is doing in their life, give opportunities for people to connect with God in a meaningful way, and last give glory to God as we honor Him with our words (lyrics) and abilities (music). The hope is that when we gather together and praise God the atmosphere would change and there would be a blending between heaven and earth and people would have an opportunity to see, feel, and meet Christ through the Holy Spirit in order to renew their minds and follow Christ.
